On December 11th, a ceremony to mark 15 years of preservation and promotion of the relic complex of Hue’s Ancient Capital, and 5 years of the same for Vietnamese Royal Music, which have been recognised as unique cultural heritage sites of humanity by UNESCO, was held at Thai Hoa Palace in the Central Province of Thua Thien – Hue.Ms. Vibeke Jensen, UNESCO’s Representative in Hanoi, highly appreciated the achievements made by the Vietnamese government and the Central Province of Thua Thien – Hue in the preservation and promotion of the values of the relics in Hue’s Ancient Capital and Vietnam royal music.
Vietnam has helped bring the promotion of Hue’s heritage legacy into a period of sustainable development, including the upgrade of dilapidated relics such as the Thien Mu Pagoda the mausoleums of Emperors Gia Long and Minh Mang, as well as efforts in restoring Vietnamese Royal Music, which has been increasingly recognised by UNESCO and other international organisations over the past years.
